General Rules.

  • Sedona/Shannon are your Hosts - you answer to them, or one of the other apointed AN staff.
  • Respect for AN admin and fellow players is absolutely demanded of any player on AN.
  • Profanity needs to be kept to an absolute minimum. If it can't be said on tv, it definately can't be said here. (Please note that this also includes the use of the word "noob".)
  • No adult content.
  • No playing other peoples' characters - I have IP addresses, so I can ban people.
  • Please be as active as possible! It's no fun having an inactive stallion or mare.
  • AN does not need your personal problems/grudges. Keep these to yourself please.
  • Horses only.
  • All levels of Role Players are invited and encouraged to play. We support the tuition of beginners, unlike many RPG's today.

    Playing Arabian Nights

  • Once again, no 'stealing' or 'hosting' other peoples characters unless you have recieved permission by the player.
  • Only join as many characters as you can handle at one time.
  • PLEASE BE ACTIVE.
  • Arabian horses only, unless you are given permission to, otherwise. See below.
  • NO POWER PLAYING! Power playing is not permitted for mainstream characters (this means you).

    Appearance guidelines

  • Any common arabian horse coat colours are allowed (including roans and albinos) with the exception of PAINTS and SPOTTEDS.
  • Any common arabian horse markings (face and legs only) are allowed.
  • Heights do not advance over that of 15.1 on this game, unless under special circumstances (see below). Your cooperation is appreciated.

    About PAINTS and NON-ARABIAN horses

  • No paint horses may be joined unless permitted by AN admin. Paint colours may be aquired through breeding from any valid, AN registered paint horse. Click here to view the registery.
  • Heights for half-breeds may exceed that of 15.1 - to a certain degree.
  • Any/all requests to join a paint horse will be rejected.
  • The presence of mustang blood is noted only through those with MAD ABOUT YOU, HEART OF STONE, or SE7EN lines. Once again, there is a mustang registery. Any horse not present will be deleted. Click here to view the registery.

    Guidelines for the Mares

  • You do not have to follow the first stallion that approaches you. In previous versions of AN, the rule was you had to, but this time around it is not so. I never thought the rule was very fair, and not many people really follow it anyway.
  • If you wish to challenge for your freedom from your stallion it must be for the following reasons - he is inactive, or she was previously stolen.
  • You must be over 3 years of age to breed/foal.
  • Mares may only challenge the LEAD MARE, or a mare ONE position above her for her position. The lead mare may chose the beta mare in the herd. The rest of the rankings are up to the stallion.
  • Mares may only use the challenging board once a week. If you are not successful the first time around, try again the next week. Please note the additional guidelines on the "challenging" board
  • If a stallion challenges and wins you, you MUST go with them, no questions asked. You have no say.

    Guidelines for the Stallions

  • Please try to be as realistic as possible.
  • You may live in a territory, but it does not 'belong' to you.
  • You may challenge for residence in a territory.
  • You may challenge for a territory if, after the span of 2 weeks, the resident stallion has not posted. This is an auto win, if there are no other challenges for it. You must still post your intention on the fighting board, stating the reason and await the results before moving in.
  • All challenges must comply with the rules of the BATTLE GUIDE and the HEALTH/POINTS SYSTEM.
  • You may breed with as many mares as you like once you reach the age of 3.
  • ONE STALLION PER HERD! This means no beta stallions etc.
  • The Alpha stallion may decide the rankings for the gamma mare and below. He does however, have the power to de-rank the lead mare if she is not doing a sufficient job in his herd. This means if she is inactive, intentionally causing trouble (pulling rank in OOC) or not executing her duties correctly.

    Rules for breeding

  • Both mare and stallion must be the age of 3 or over to breed.
  • A foal may only be concieved and born during the times stated on the game. Click here to view the dates.
  • A staff member will decide all foal stats, including colors, genders, and twins. Please see the "breeding" board for more information.
  • Part-bred foals must be registered before their birth (foals with part-breed parents). This involves filling out the paint/mustang registry form. Failure to do so will result in a still birth, and the parents must wait for the following breeding season.
  • No foals will be born early. Absolutely NONE. Unless you purposely want a miscarriage, then you may - but the foal is born a stillbirth.

    Foals born on AN
Birth & First Year - Foal (ages 0 to 1)

  • A foal may only be concieved and born during the times stated on the game.
  • A foal is dependent on it's dam for the first 'year' of it's life. It remains in the herd for that time.
    Enters 2nd year - Yearling (ages 1 to 2)
  • Yearling colts may leave the herd if kicked out by the Alpha stallion.
  • These colts are required to join a bachelor herd.
  • Yearlings will integrate in to their birth herd as members until the age of 2, but not longer be dependent on their mothers.
    Enters 3rd year - Bachelor (ages 2 to 3)
  • A foal must leave the herd at the age of 2.
  • Colts may roam the lands, join a bachelor herd or go to the haven until they reach the age of 3. They may collect bachelor fillies ONLY. This means no mature mares.
  • Bachelors may not hold claim to a territory.
  • Fillies may post and be claimed by a stallion but cannot breed until the age of 3.
    Enters 4th year - Mature (3+)
  • You may breed at this age.
  • Colts may claim a territory and herd.
  • You may not join a herd with a fullblood sister in it (same dam/sire) with the exception of bachelor/rebel herds.
  • You cannot join a herd with your sire/brother relation as the stallion (no-inbreeding)
  • You cannot claim a mare that is a blood relation to the stallion.

    Foals NOT born on AN

  • This includes ORPHAN foals and MARES WITH FOALS.
  • Mares may not join AN with foals by their side unless the foal is a yearling or older. They stay with their dams until the age of 2.
  • Mares may join AN pregnant, but the foal will not be born until the nearest foaling season coinciding with AN time.
  • Orphan foals may only be joined under special circumstances. View the calendar to see what dates are available.
  • Yearling foals may NOT be joined without their BLOOD/BIRTH dams. This means they cannot become independent from their dam and their herd until the age of 2. They may not be adopted by another mare.

    Challenging/Fighting Rules

  • Khan is in charge of deciding the winners of the challenges. This is done so by the rolling of a dice.
  • A stallion vs stallion will have 3 numbers each.
  • A stallion vs main will have 2 numbers
  • A mare vs main will have 1 number.
  • A mare for freedom will have 1 number.
  • The only challenge a mare may make to a stallion is for freedom.
  • All challenges/results are to/will be posted on the challenging board.

    The Ranch/Horse Hunters

  • If you haven't realised the Arabian Night is a Ranch. Horses are brought from auctions etc and set wild until needed, sometimes, the men will come and round up some horses, then drive them back to the ranch. I will post the names of the horses taken on the tt from which they were taken. YOU MUST GO WITH THEM, STALLION OR MARE OR FOAL. A mare may challenge for her foal or stallion to be let loose, and a stallion may challenge for a mare to be set free. Post these on the ranch board. Horses outside the corrals do not talk to the captured ones, they do not go near the men AT ALL. You just challenge. Don't worry, most horses are set free after a maximum of 1-2 weeks. Horses CANNOT escape, so no jumping/breaking fences.

    Pictures and Graphics

  • All images must be appropriate.
  • Images are not compulsory.
  • Must be hosted on a reliable source.
